Cyber Security Awareness Skill Set

Course Description

Cybersecurity has seen an increasing demand for skilled workers in every industry that uses computers, networks and the Internet. Cybersecurity experts work on measures to protect the data from theft, damage or ransomware when locked. The data can cover sensitive information, personally identifiable data (PII), health information, banking or other financial details, Intellectual property and government or industry information.

Students who complete this skill set would be equipped with the skills and knowledge required for any company that has an IT department, a Cybersecurity team or as a Privacy Officer. The students will learn how to create a Cybersecurity Strategy, how to write policies or undertake a PIA (Privacy impact assessment).

Course Entry Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or above
  • Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment prior to enrolment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs
  • Completed year 10 certificate or above
  • Students should come with their own laptop or tablet

CLASS BASED REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a Criminal Police Check (no longer than 6 months prior to the date of enrolment)
  • Up to date Vaccination Record Card (NSW Dept. of Health) including COVID19 vaccines
  • Laptop or tablet

BSBXCS402 Promote workplace cyber security awareness and best practices
BSBXCS303 Securely manage personally identifiable information and workplace information
BSBXCS302 Identify and report online security threats
